About this school:

While our school faces immense resource challenges as a result of being a rural, Title I school, our teachers have found creative ways to gather the resources needed to ensure that our students are being exposed to the same types of critical thinking and inquiry as their urban peers.

About This Event:

We value teamwork, communication, and a relentless spirit of innovation. In 2016 – 2017, we introduced a POWER schedule where students are able to select their clubs, tutorials, and lunches within two forty minute blocks. With this time in the day, we will be able to allow more students to experience Betabox and bring their knowledge from this opportunity into the classroom to relate to material we are learning in class.

Our school is among the lowest-performing and lowest-resourced in the state of North Carolina, and our students face incredible adversity and challenges in attaining the educational opportunities that many of their more affluent peers access with ease. Our county ranks 98th out of 100 in the state in terms of health outcomes, and 77% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
